An introduction to the topic

Being convinced of something and having good reasons to assert it can be very different experiences. Epistemology studies knowledge, its sources and its limits. It allows us to ask what supports a belief, how to recognise an error and what roles experience, reasoning and other people’s testimony play. When approaching the topic, it can help to choose an everyday claim and ask what evidence supports it and what would lead us to revise it.
